3D TV DisplayPort 1.2

We knew that 2010 would be the year of 3D TV, and the first months of the year have certainly shown us that. VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) took advantage of CES in Las Vegas to unveil the standard DisplayPort 1.2. This new version of the standard connector competitor of HDMI supports a maximum resolution of 3840 × 2400 at 60Hz, and a maximum throughput of 21.6 Gb / s The 1920x1200 is supported on 4 screens simultaneously.

But the main contribution of the standard DisplayPort 1.2 is the support of 3D mode in Full HD at 240 Hz. The maximum resolution supported in this case is 2560 × 1600 at a frequency of 120 Hz for each eye. DisplayPort provides backward compatibility, allowing use of either material in DisplayPort , DisplayPort 1.1 and 1.2. The DisplayPort 1.2 can also carry USB data transfer and Ethernet bidirectional transfer with a dedicated throughput of 720 Mb / s. This is now a serious competitor to the HDMI 1.4.
